Introduction
GarbageCAN (Pvt.) Ltd. was established in Karachi in 2017 after carefully studying the inefficiencies, and gaps within the existing system. We started with Karachi due to its obviously lacking waste management facilities, as well as to counter its informal industry, which also leads to other social ills such as child labor, drug addiction, mafia etc.
GarbageCAN aims to make sustainable practices commonplace amongst Pakistanis by taking the buzzword ‘sustainability’ and enabling people to implement it in their daily routine.
Vision
To make recycling second nature in Pakistan, and to cement the culture of sustainable waste management and overall sustainability amongst the citizens of Pakistan and on a global level.
Mission
To introduce and enable sustainable practices for responsible waste management by bridging the gap between the producers and processors of waste.
Our ARC
GarbageCAN takes a three pronged approach to the management of waste:
- Awareness: To make people aware of the waste they are producing via waste audits, talks, and practical scenarios such as clean-ups etc.
- Recycling management: To enable those who want to start recycling at home or work.
- Comprehensive waste management: To enable homes, businesses, festivals, and other institutions to manage their waste wisely in order to reduce their environmental footprint.
